Trust Speaks at Royal College of GPs Annual Conference

Confidentiality and Bereavement Support

The Trust  was invited to make a presentation to the Royal College of GPs to talk about the important role that Primary Care play in suicide prevention.

We talked about the importance of involving trusted family, friends and carers in assessment, treatment and care and how the College should be training all new and existing GPs in the Consensus Statement.

This sets out a new framework for involving family, friends and carers and was published in January 2014.

We need all the Royal Colleges to use this to bring about a culture change in favour of involvement.

We also spoke about the importance of suicide bereavement support and the role that Primary Care can play in ensuring everyone bereaved or affected by suicide is offered appropriate and timely support.... using the Support after Suicide Website, as the start of a journey.
