Trust Chair receives award in 2023 New Year Honours

The honour of receiving an MBE has come as a real surprise and, as you can imagine, we have mixed emotions.

We receive the award in recognition for all the work the Trust has done, with so many others, over the past 12 years. A huge thank you to all our supporters over this time.

We hope that our work to bring suicide bereavement support to every area of England by 2024 and encourage schools, colleges, universities and work places to position wellbeing and mental health as a strategic priority will be sustained, and have a lasting impact in the years to come.

Our initial aim was to prevent just one family from going through our experience. We hope that we have achieved this, as well as, perhaps, making a positive difference to the lives of many others... most of who we will never know.

However, we also accepted the award to remember Matthew's 23 years and all that he meant to so many family and friends.

Matthew would have wanted us to respond in this way as, above everything, he was always looking out for others.
