NHS England fund suicide bereavement support

NHS England announced its Long Term 10 Year Plan on January 7th 2019.

The Trust, which chairs the Support after Suicide Partnership, provided a response and evidence during the consultation phase and we are delighted that the Plan includes funding for suicide bereavement support services in every area of the country.

There are currently nine areas of the country that have a service (including Durham, Cornwall and Merseyside) and NHS England has agreed that services will now be funded in all Sustainability and Transformation Partnership areas (STPs). The implementation will start in mid 2019.

This is excellent news and results from widespread campaigning by many people with personal experience. Thank you for all that you have done to influence this policy and to everyone at NHS England for responding to our evidence.
